Old Money Aesthetic Wedding Checklist
This checklist will help you identify the elements that make up an old money wedding - with one caveat. Think of the suggestions below as a starting point for ideas rather than a must-have list and prioritise personalisation over anything else to ensure you have a wedding that is authentic to you.
I’ve illustrated this guide with gorgeous images from an ‘old money wedding’ styled shoot by Alexandria French Photography as well as some other stunning images by SL Photo and Film that should give you some beautiful inspiration. They feature two of my headpieces that would suit this style so well - my Coraline crown and Angelica padded headband.

1. Classic and Elegant Venue
The foundation of an old money aesthetic wedding is the venue you choose. Opt for historic estates, country homes, manor houses, villas or a classic country club. These venues often feature timeless architecture, lush gardens, and an air of sophistication that sets the stage for your event. Think locations with stately ballrooms, manicured lawns, and elegant courtyards.
2. Timeless Invitations
Your wedding invitation is the first impression guests will have of your wedding. Choose high-quality paper, traditional fonts, and classic colours. Engraved or letterpress invitations with monograms or family crests add a touch of heritage. Choose from monochrome or ivory/cream with gold or black lettering - or subtle pastel hues for a softer touch.
3. Attire: Sophisticated Simplicity
For the bride, a classic silhouette such as an A-line or ball gown dress with clean lines and minimal embellishments is all about old money traditionalism. For a more modern vibe try a more form-fitting or slinky look. Lace details, long sleeves, and veils with intricate borders or personalised embroidery will add to the luxurious elegance. For the groom this aesthetic would suit a traditional black or white tuxedo or three piece suit with a bow tie or classic tie.
4. Luxe Accessories:
- Pearl or diamond jewellery for the bride - simple for a more traditional look, statement for a more modern vibe.
- A crown/tiara or padded headband will up the opulence, elevate your look, and help you nail the old money wedding vibe.
5. Timeless Florals
Opt for classic flowers - like roses, peonies, hydrangeas and seasonal local flowers. For bouquets and arrangements, think elegant, lush, but understated, using a palette of whites, creams, soft pastels or muted hues.

6. Décor:
Decor should be refined and classic - think antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, and silver or gold accents. Linens should be high-quality - and perfectly ironed and folded.
Table Settings:
- Fine china with a classic pattern.
- Silverware and crystal glassware.
- Champagne tower.
- Elegant place cards and monogrammed napkins.
- Black velvet or satin bows add a modern luxe element and can adorn anything from a menu to glassware or even food!
7. Menu
An old money aesthetic wedding calls for a refined menu. Offer a multi-course meal with classic dishes that showcase high-quality ingredients. And don't forget a selection of fine wines, champagnes - and classic cocktails too.
8. Music and Entertainment
A string quartet or classical pianist will add to the sophisticated ambiance during the ceremony and cocktail hour. For the reception, consider a live band that can perform classic hits.
9. Transportation: Arrive in Style
For an old money aesthetic, vintage cars or classic limousines are the perfect transportation options. For a traditional wedding choose a Rolls Royce, Bentley or Classic limousine. For a more modern vibe choose a vintage convertible or motorbike. These vehicles add a touch of glamour and sophistication to your grand entrance and departure.
9. Personal Touches: Heritage and Tradition
Incorporate family heirlooms and traditions to add a personal touch to your wedding. This could be a piece of jewellery, a family recipe in the menu, family photos at the reception, or a traditional or sentimental reading during the ceremony.
10. Your Unique Style
An old money aesthetic wedding is about timeless elegance, refinement, and a deep appreciation for tradition. By focusing on classic elements, high-quality details, and sophisticated simplicity, you can create a wedding that feels both luxurious and heartfelt.
And remember - this is your day and it should be personal to both of you, so use this guide as a starting point and then add in your own style elements to create a celebration that is uniquely yours.
