Planning a fairytale forest wedding? Then I’ve got some gorgeous inspiration for you! With a magical location, the perfect green bridesmaid dresses, a floral bridal gown of dreams and a crown fit for a woodland nymph, this free-spirited wedding at Camp Katur is packed to the rafters with ideas to steal!
Nature-loving bride Amy picked out the perfect crown for her North Yorkshire wedding at Camp Katur during a visit to the Debbie Carlisle studio. The Coraline crown could have been designed just for her - with gold and green crystals which perfectly complemented her hair and the lush forest setting, and hand-carved mother of pearl flowers which mirrored the florals in her dreamy gown from Emily Bridalwear.
I asked Amy to tell me a little bit about her free-spirited fairytale forest wedding - and her advice for brides thinking of wearing a wedding crown. I love what she had to say!
What made you choose Camp Katur for your wedding?
I always dreamed of a woodland wedding. I have quite a hectic brain and when I’m walking in the woods everything just calms down and I feel connected to the earth again. I wanted to find that calm and magic for our ceremony and then joyful dancing - which brings me to Camp Katur. There are not very many woodland venues in the north of England that you can do the legal bit at as well so we had visited a few before we went to Camp Katur and we were immediately swept away with the whole place.
What inspired your wedding style?
I asked my florist for a Folklore x Lover theme (Taylor Swift eras) we are both Swifties luckily, so that translates to a woodlandly/ferny/rustic vibe mixed with pinks. My dress had a biscotti underlay (blush-ish) so I was always trying to balance the wild/nature side and the girly side.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
When the sun decided to come through the trees - it really felt like magic.
Are you glad you chose to wear a bridal hair accessory?
Absolutely yes, I was initially nervous to wear my crown/tiara because of my constant trying to balance the girly with the cool but realised that was a stupid worry when I was so in love with my crown. It felt so special and just sparkled all day. I received a lot of compliments throughout the day.
If you could offer advice to other brides thinking of wearing a hair accessory, what would you say?
Just do what YOU want to do! It was the cherry on the cake for me and I’m so grateful to Debbie for designing the most perfect crown. It was also very comfortable and kept me looking bridal even when the rest of me was looking a little bedraggled by the end of the evening from all the dancing!
